MOST FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

What are the festival dates and times?
  • We look forward to welcoming guests from Friday, November 1-Sunday, November 10, 2019.
  • Friday, November 1-Sunday, November 3 - Festival Hours: 12-10pm.
  • Monday, November 4-Sunday, November 10 - Festival Hours: 5-10pm.
  • The Baltimore Book Festival literary marketplace (featuring more than 100+ exhibitors and booksellers along the harbor promenade) and literary stages (10 stages! 200+ authors) kick-off the festival's first weekend, November 1-3.
  • The Literary Salon stage at the USM Columbus Center (701 E. Pratt Street, Baltimore, MD 21202) remains open with headline author appearances through Wednesday, November 6.
  • The works of light art will be fully illuminated every night starting around 6pm. Remember, daylight savings time ends at 2am on Sunday, November 2 so it gets darker earlier.
Where is the festival located?
  • The festival takes place along the waterfront at Baltimore's famed Inner Harbor, from the south wall (nearest landmark: Maryland Science Center, 601 Light Street, Baltimore, MD 21230) to Pier 5 (nearest landmark: Pier 5 Hotel, 711 Eastern Avenue, Baltimore, MD).
  • This year, the magic of Light City spreads beyond downtown to 19 communities through our Neighborhood Lights initiative. Eight branches of the Enoch Pratt Free Library glow with brilliance as they each host their own evening full of literature, light and culinary arts. In addition, thanks to the generosity of T. Rowe Price Foundation, 11 Baltimore neighborhoods will shine a spotlight on their unique charms - from parades and concerts to illuminated art and storytelling - you're invited to get out and about and experience all that Baltimore has to offer!

Is there an admission fee?
  • The festival is free and open to the public. 
  • New for 2019, exclusive ticketed events are available for festival-goers who want to enhance their experience. VIP passes to meet-and-greet your favorite celebrity authors will be released for sale after October 1.
Is there a schedule or line-up for the festival?

Charm City Circulator

The CCC is a Fast, Friendly and Free, fully accessible public transportation service that travels four routes in Baltimore City.

The Charm City Circulator hours: Sunday: 9am-8pm, Monday-Thursday: 7am-8pm, Friday: 7am–midnight, Saturday: 9am-midnight

MTA

The nearest Light Rail stop is the Convention Center, and the nearest Metro stop is Baltimore and Charles streets

For your convenience, please use your CharmCard®, Monthly Pass or Weekly Pass or purchase a MDOT MTA Day Pass or round-trip tickets at the start of your trip to the festival.

From points north of  Baltimore (Philadelphia, New York): 
Follow I-95 South through the Fort McHenry Tunnel ($2 toll) to exit 53 (I-395 North, Downtown).Bear left off the exit and follow signs to the Inner Harbor. Continue in the left or center lane. At the third light, make a right onto Pratt Street. Follow Pratt Street four blocks to the Inner Harbor, which will be on your right. The Visitor Center is located along the Inner Harbor's west wall (between Bubba Gump's and the Maryland Science Center on Light Street).

From points south of Baltimore (Annapolis, Washington D.C., Northern Virginia):
Follow I-95 North to Exit 53 (I-395 North, Downtown). Continue in the left or center lane. At the third light, make a right onto Pratt Street. Follow Pratt Street four blocks to the Inner Harbor, which will be on your right. The Visitor Center is located along the Inner Harbor's west wall (on Light Street)

From points northwest of Baltimore (Harrisburg, York PA): 
Follow I-70 East to Exit 91 (I-695 South, Glen Burnie). Travel on I-695 South and take Exit 11A (I-95 North, Baltimore). Proceed on I-95 North to Exit 53 (I-395 North, Downtown). Continue in the left or center lane. At the third light, make a right onto Pratt Street. Follow Pratt Street four blocks to the Inner Harbor, which will be on your right. The Visitor Center is located along the Inner Harbor's west wall (on Light Street)

Parking Management, Inc. (PMI) is a preferred parking partner of the festival, with garages conveniently located at 815 E. Pratt Street and 720 Aliceanna Street (Baltimore, MD 21202).

The City of Baltimore has numerous parking locations conveniently located throughout the city. Park easy and reserve your event parking with the Parking Authority of Baltimore City! So, whether you need a daily parking spot or overnight, there is a spot waiting for you.

Free Bike Parking is available on the lawn behind the Baltimore Visitor Center (401 Light Street). Riders are responsible for securing their bikes before leaving the area. Baltimore Book Festival/Light City is not responsible for lost or stolen items.
