Gail Shepard is a middle grade novelist and education professional, recently retired after a career that spanned diverse genres of writing: long-form journalism, radio plays, book reviews, food writing, humor, ghost writing, and finally children’s literature. Her passion is for craft, mentoring, helping kids develop a growth mindset, and using the arts to foster literacy, critical thinking, self-efficacy, creativity, and good citizenship. Her debut novel, THE TRUE HISTORY OF LYNDIE B. HAWKINS, published in 2019 to multiple starred reviews, is a Junior Library Guild selection. Gail was chosen as a Publisher’s Weekly “Flying Start,” for Spring 2019.
