The Baltimore Office of Promotion & The Arts (BOPA) is uniting two of its marquee events: Baltimore Book Festival and Light City. Brilliant Baltimore will illuminate the city with literature, ideas, world-class light art installations, and live performances.

The Baltimore Book Festival, a celebration of the literary arts, features author appearances and book signings, exhibitors and bookseller tents, readings on multiple stages, children’s activities, and cooking demonstrations. Light City, a festival of light, music, discussions and innovation, will feature a Light Art Walk at its center with awe-inspiring light art installations, performances, concerts, a fun-filled family zone, and Neighborhood Lights.

Authors

Exciting author roster of visionaries and luminaries that includes Carla Hall, celebrity chef, television host of “The Chew” and author of Carla’s Food; activist and actor from the hit TV series “The Good Doctor,” Hill HarperNew York Times bestselling author Dave Cullen.

Artists

Light City shines at night with 20 light art installations by artists from around the world including Baltimore, Washington, D.C., Oregon, France, Canada, Portugal, The Netherlands and New Zealand. 

Light Art & Exhibitions

The 2019 Light Art exhibits will be located at Baltimore’s Waterfront. This year's jurors selected the 20 light art installations from 125 applications from across five continents.

Book Events

A celebration of the literary arts, featuring author appearances, book signings, exhibitor and bookseller tents, readings on multiple stages, children’s activities, and cooking demonstrations.

Live Performances

Light Up the Night! Concert Stage Baltimore Book Festival and Light City present 40+ concerts over the festival’s 10 days and nights. Experience music in a riveting variety of genres.

Neighborhood Lights

The 2019 Neighborhood Lights program has been reinvented as an immersive community arts experience, open to all city residents where we will celebrate four artistic disciplines: culinary arts, literary arts, performing arts and visual arts.
